WELCOME

Social media isn't perfect, so we've created something new.

How many ETOL Facebook groups are you a part of? Two, three, maybe more? Wouldn't it be great if all of those groups came together, if there was one place we could reliably turn to for ETOL news, events, and networking? We thought so, and thus came about the ETOL Community Page. So welcome, we hope you enjoy your stay!

Firstly, we all know how bad excessive screen time is for our mental and physical health so please take in our website, participate in the groups, check out the great events we have planned! But don't spend too long on this page, get outside! Enjoy what the great outdoors have to offer, even if it's just a ten minute walk or five minute solo. Then come back later and tell us about your adventures!

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Calgary is located on Treaty 7 land.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.  Finally, we acknowledge all Nations, indigenous and non, who live, work and play and help us steward this land, honour and celebrate this territory.

This sacred gathering place provides us with an opportunity to engage in and demonstrate leadership on reconciliation.

BUT WAIT, WE'RE SO MUCH MORE

We know that for a lot of people, ETOL encompasses more than a degree. Due to the nature of experiential learning, ETOL has a way of impacting students in more ways than their education. Many of us create lifelong friendships, forged through the bond that only nearly freezing to death in the wild can bring. Others discover passions they had never considered or realized were an option prior to the degree.  In essence, we are taught to be community leaders, and we'd like to see what happens when we ban together in one place with all of our crazy ideas and passions to create lasting change in the outdoor industry. Or the world as a whole;

we dream big here.
