ORGANIZATIONS

CANADIAN PARKS AND WILDERNESS SOCIETY

The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s voice for wilderness. We are a non-profit environmental organization working to protect half of Canada’s public land and water. Since 1967, CPAWS Southern Alberta Chapter has led conservation efforts to protect areas in Banff National Park, Kananaskis, the Whaleback and the Castle. Our chapter is also a leader in environmental education, offering award-winning programs to help build the next generation of environmental stewards.

PEAK+PINE APPAREL

PEAK+PINE Apparel is an outdoor inspired clothing line dedicated to growing a community of nature loving, adventure seeking, kind hearted explorers.
It's designed to inspire and encourage people to connect with things that matter most in life: family, friends and nature!

COMPANY OF ADVENTURERS (COA)

Since 1990, Company of Adventurers has been busy introducing as many people as possible to outdoor experiential learning on Treaty 7 lands of the Canadian Rockies. Our school programs give Calgary and area students the chance to explore Kananaskis on snowshoes, xc skis, mountain bikes and on foot throughout the duration of the school year. In the summer, we welcome international guests to Banff National Park for our Hiking, Family and Women's Adventure programs. COA's Adventure Academy offers summer and winter programs designed to satisfy requirements for the Duke of Edinburgh Award's Adventurous Journey. Our connection to the ETOL program remains strong with many alumni on staff, including our owner Bryce Willigar, and our Program Director, Brett Kolasa. It is our belief that the outdoors can be a place to heal the mind and body from the stressors of daily life. Providing access to nature in a safe, fun and educational environment to all ages is what we do best!

GearTrade was founded in 2012 in Okotoks, Alberta by an outdoor enthusiast and entrepreneur who saw a need for an outdoor gear marketplace.

Over the years, this local business has flourished with online sales throughout North America. However, it is still the little touches, customer service, and professional advice that matter most to us. We strive to take the time needed to make sure our customers walk away with the right product for their next adventure.

With a degree in Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership, Owner and operator Jesse Hebenton has an extensive background in the outdoor field both in retail and as a guide and outdoor facilitator. But at the end of the day let’s face it, he’s a big time gear junkie.

Our mission has been and continues to be simple, we want to provide outdoor enthusiasts with the best marketplace to buy brand name, high quality gear, at wholesale prices year round.

GROWING ROOTS

Growing Roots Forest Play Inc was founded in 2017 by Lori (Gray) Toma and Laura (Murray) Spruyt. What started with a common desire for nature based programming for preschool aged children soon blossomed into a 'let's just do this' attitude...and that's exactly what we did.  Our play-based, place-based, emergent curricular programs take place on Treaty 7 territory and allows young children to deepen their innate connection to nature. Through discovery, healthy risk-taking, and messy fun, children build confidence, learn valuable problem-solving skills, and develop age-appropriate social skills.

We adults spend our days as Co-Conspirators in play, allowing the children to lead the way through inquiry-based learning, where we provide gentle guidance - growing and learning alongside them. We are fortunate to have a diverse team of beekeepers, Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership alumni, early childhood educators, certified Forest and Nature School practitioners, and recreation professionals. Our programs run outside, year-round with our forest play school running September to June and summer camps in July/August.

We love to spend our time exploring the forest, hillsides, and creek that runs through our sites. Accepting children with whole hearts, meeting them where they are at, and providing a safe space to explore and learn is at the core of our Growing Roots culture. Come play, explore and learn (in that order) with us!
