Submission Deadline: October 31, 2022 at 11:59pm.

Before you submit, fill out an intent form! We use this to keep track of who is submitting films.

If you miss the deadline please still submit! However, your work may not be shown at film night.

Time: 7 min or less. If over 7 minutes your video could still possibly be shown at film night but may not qualify for the Esker nomination.

150 word write up/description must accompany the film submission in addition to a land acknowledgement.

Music must be PUBLIC DOMAIN and follow MRU Copyright Policy.

Be appropriate, this means no profanity, swearing, nudity, or alcohol/drugs in your video.

This is a competitive process meaning even though you submit a film, it does not mean it will be accepted.

Must be outdoor recreation/tourism based.

Follow outdoor ethics such as LNT principles.

Field school and expeditions will get first priority for being accepted, however, films which are focused on environmental stewardship, climate change, reconciliation, and current environmental issues/ activism will also be given priority.

Format: .mp4 or .mov work fine. 1080p will suffice. Do not submit videos in 4K. Works best if you upload your film onto google drive and then share a link. If your film is chosen we may ask for a higher quality film submission.

If you want your work to qualify for the Esker Award, it must follow the guidelines.

PHOTO SUBMISSION

Deadline to submit: October 31, 2022, at 11:59 pm.

Two photo submission is allowed per person among two different categories.

3 photos in each category selected by ETOL 4270 class will be showcased at Film Night.

PHOTOS MUST HAVE A TITLE, DESCRIPTION, AND LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.

Categories for photos:
-
"Sense of Place": Any photo that gives a sense of place and showcases the world around. may contain humans and wildlife, but the main focous should be the scenery, surroundings, and landscapes.

"Wildlife & Wildflowers": Any photo where the main focous is either wildlife, wildflowers (or any natural flora/ fauna).
-
"Our Changing Environment": Any photo that showcases our changing landscapes and highlights the effects of climate change.
-
"Back to ACTION": Any photo that showcases an action shot in the outdoors, can be wildlife shots or human.
